The eye-popping color of this polymer clay necklace by Austria’s Carina Feichtinger startled me as I plowed through the web this morning.
Carina credits Ronna’s book for inspiration (see yesterday’s post) though it’s certainly Carina’s own colors and design.
I was also touched by this guerrilla craft, polymer piece from LA’s Lauren Steven which was created for submission to Stampington as a part of Monica Magness’ “AdDRESSing the Situation” campaign to bring awareness of the murders of women in Juarez, Mexico.

Thank you so much, Cynthia. Right now I am visiting my parents in California. Yesterday my mother and I searched my name (oh my! my swelling head!)on Flickr and saw a whole bevvy of delightful wonderful pieces either playing around to hit the sweet spot by duplicating a project, or taking the techniques into whole new places. My mom was marvelling at all the wonderful art jewelry everyone is creating. She remarked on Carina’s piece, saying how great it was that she could see how Carina had been influenced by the book, but had done something new and different. But really — she was blown away by every single picture we found. As was I.
I wish I had room to thank everyone who has been so supportive of this project of mine. And for everyone who’s having fun making jewelry and then posting it — thank you so very much. And I’m so tickled that I’m seeing things from all over the world. Some folks make trouble, but we’re all busy bringing the world together through sharing our art with each other, aren’t we?

My friend and fellow PCAGOE member Laurel Steven is one of the most creative people I know and this piece proves it to the max. She is also hysterically funny, as any of you know who follow her blog already know. She is the “bestest of the best” and I am so proud of her for bringing awareness to the atrocities in Mexico. Congratulations, Laurel!
