Belcher and the first PCD giveaway

by Cynthia Tinapple on January 21, 2010 · 63 comments

Belcher IPCA earringsJudy Belcher reinterpreted the IPCA logo to make these totally cute polymer earrings. Look at the ad in the right hand column to see the logo.

The earrings are the first PCDaily giveaway! If you comment on this post, you could win Judy’s creations this Saturday and wear them at Synergy.

IPCA’s Synergy conference is only a month away. I’m working on an event at Synergy so that PCD readers can wear their work (I’ll post pictures) and greet their many online friends.

Let’s fill up those Synergy classes and don’t forget the hands-on events. You won’t find a more condensed gathering of master polymer artists than this. Now’s your chance.

Giveaways, events, social media….you might guess that I’m being coached by my savvy young daughter and niece, right? Here’s my reading assignment. I rarely promote non-polymer items but the book, How Not To Act Old, has me in stitches and is changing my behavior. You might enjoy the list.

I’m so excited to be going to Synergy2! Though I’m just a beginner with polymer clay, I’ve been reading a lot and one of the first things I look at every morning is PolymerClayDaily. I love this site. Thanks so much for the wealth of inspiration you provide.

Judy: BRAVA ! You earrings are the PERFECT and “oh so creative” way to interpret the IPCA logo in celebratation of Synergy. Thanks for the give away.

Cynthia:Thanks for the “….act old” book recommendation. We’ll have to see if our library has it.

Actually I took offense to the “How to Not Act Old” reference and it’s link. Why do we continually promote a culture that says young is good and old is bad. I don’t even see this inclusion as a bit of fun, it’s insulting.

It seems fitting that Judy would be the one to do these earrings :) . Cool.
Oh how I wish I could attend Synergy…

I see a pair of Julia Sober’s earrings underneath. Would love to see some more of her work. Is she still claying?

I think both you and Judy should get a prize for exemplifying the theme of the Synergy 2 conference: Exploring Connections. Surely the two of you have done an amazing amount of work towards connecting the public with the myriad possibilities – and personalities – of polymer clay. Bravo.

Marlene Brady January 21, 2010 at 1:17 pm

I’m with Maureen and applaud both you and Judy for keeping the public connected by displaying the work of amazing polymer clay artists and keeping the advancements in polymer clay in the forefront.

This is a great idea! Are there plans to do a PCD set now too? Or would you give permission to use the banner image to make a pair with a transfer of the blog title for that purpose? That could be very cool. We could submit design ideas to you for you to choose. :-)

I’m very excited to be going to Synergy2! I considered one of the hands-on sessions, but the only thing I found in a quick look said you had to contact each instructor independently about enrolling, so there was no easy way to see which sessions still had openings. It would be great if they could put something together to help people know what is available.
