Orlowski’s fashion boost

Orlowski's tribal necklace in polymer clay

Ontario’s Wendy Orlowski brings us a bit of green and glamor today. She tagged along on a fashion photo shoot and the results give her new tribal design an added boost.

It’s amazing how a good photographer and a young neck can send work to a whole new level.

Wendy details the progress of these pieces and demonstrates how she uses grommets. And for those who are tutorial-hungry, there’s a neat little texture tool tip here.

I think her work was at a whole new level even before the young neck and good photographer. Very, very nice work!

So visually sophisticated and appealing in addition to innovative construction design. I think it will become a signature piece.

I always prefer to see jewelry modeled on a person — if it’s meant to be worn, how it drapes, or hangs on the ears or on the fabric of clothes makes a HUGE difference. Something we should all keep in mind, too.

The texture tool is very clever — I’ll have to raid OTHER people’s kitchens for supplies, though, since I never have stuff like that on hand, with no kids and rarely eating at home!

Love the grommet idea! I use them all the time, but never thought to make the bead sized to fit the whole of them. Genius! My mind is buzzing with ideas for them now. Thanks, Wendy!

Yes – a young neck does wonders…but if my daughter’s not available there’s always Photoshop!

Really gorgeous, it’s a good idea to use this tube shape for a collar… It seems to come from greece or from africa, some ethnic thing… And I like the color too, somewhere between water and sky, soft and poetic !

Love the necklace and the grommet idea but that texture tool is a real find!

Next, can anyone tell me how to access/purchase some of the wonderful european polymer books out there? I cannot find them in such a manner as to purchase for myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for the inspiration and any help any one can offer on my request. DFRN
