This big beautiful cane by Diane Boivin appeared on Cynthia Blanton’s blog as she recorded the results of the 6-day kaleidoscope pendant intensive workshop with Carol Simmons at the Shake Rag Alley School for Arts and Crafts in Wisconsin last week. Cynthia says that the room got noisy as students began pounding these large triangular assemblages to reduce them.

Look on Cynthia’s blog and on Carol’s Facebook page to see more student work.

And the winner is…

Barbara Briggs won the souvenir t-shirt from the RAM exhibit via random number generator. Congrats and thanks to all who entered.

You may have noticed more changes on the PCD site this week in our attempt to freshen and keep up to date. Of course we broke a few electrons in the process. We appreciate all comments/criticisms.

More RAM pix tomorrow.

I actually gasped when I saw this!! So beautiful. I would so love to do a class, but time and the Atlantic ocean are against me. Maybe one day…

Actually, the workshop last week (before the RAM event) was held just outside Madison, WI. I’ve seen some of the other canes from that event, and the class at Maureen’s and they are amazing.

        I know, right?!!
We can’t wait for her visit in April to Texas.

These canes are seriously amazing and with how wonderful all the canes are, Carol has to be a fabulous teacher!

          • reply Carol Simmons ,

Thanks for the mention, Cynthia. This cane is from my most recent workshop, at Shake Rag Alley School for Arts and Crafts in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. The student was Diane Boivin from Canada. In future workshops the canes will not be quite this large. Both Maureen’s and Shake Rag Alley were wonderful venues for workshops. There are a lot more pictures of students’ canes on my facebook page and I’ll be writing about them in future posts on my blog.

So great to see Diane’s cane on PCD. I think it is safe to say a wonderful (though sometimes exhausting) time was had by all. Carol’s talents are numerous and, as always, she gave so much of herself to all of us. For those who are already registered–you’re in for a treat. For those who are considering signing up, I encourage you to take the plunge!
