Painting with polymer

The World Series may be over for 2011, but when you combine a love of baseball and a stellar artistic talent with polymer clay, the game never ends.

Using polymer, Marisol Ross creates three dimensional baseball paintings that will have you believing you’re in the stadium craving hot dogs and Cracker Jacks.

Each sculptural painting captures a different aspect of the game, from famous players and infamous fans to vendors and exuberant action scenes. But Marisol doesn’t limit herself to the baseball diamond, these diners captured my imagination as well.

The uses for poly clay from a creative mind and talented hands are apparently limitless. Marisiol Ross’ dimensional paintings are beautifully detailed and realistic in capturing motion in a way that DOES make one feel like the are at a baseball game. Seeing them in person must be even more amazing.

I hope someday to be able to see them up close, Anita. It’s true, polymer clay’s possibilities are endless as Cynthia shows us 5 days a week.

A delightful surprise is always a good way to start the day! I thought “What is Alice doing now? Posting baseball pictures!”. I keep telling myself to stop making snap judgments. It’s so humbling when I discover my errors.

Alice, what a wonderful find. I love how polymer clay is a basic art supply that takes on the expression of its user.

I know, you just didn’t peg me for a fan. But I am a fan of Marisol’s that’s for sure. Thank you Maureen.

Her use of strong contrasting colors and a complex grid of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines are amazing! I could study them for hours. Thank you for the post; such a treat to wake up to.
