These alien skulls from Susan Detwiler looked right at home sprinkled among the polymer poker chips at the Mammoth Cave guild event. They were highly sought prizes.

Susan also features voodoo dolls, robots, faerie houses, hearts and more on Flickr where her art combines ghoulish humor with whimsy and wit. Be sure to introduce yourself to her Fred, Ethel Mae and Lola.

There are a few snapshots from the Kentucky event on Flickr for you to enjoy while I catch up with your posts and a pile of email.

Susan’s polymer art is amazing. I love the skulls and am the proud winner of the alien skull, middle row, far right.

Susan’s daughter Bethany made Mexican sugar skulls for her poker chips which were also highly prized in our LRC game. They chose their poker chip projects independently; which leads us to believe that the fruit (or skull) doesn’t fall far from the tree!

I am the proud owner of a Detweiler skull (traded for it with my glow-in-the-dark bats). Susan’s work is wonderful, and so is Bethany’s (loved the sugar skulls, wish I had one). The Mammoth Cave Retreat was a shining success. Now I’m going back to bed.
