Hearts and horses – mixing media

Liz Hall on PCDaily

On Valentines Day hop on over to Liz Hall’s shop to see her whole series of hearts inlaid with irridescent polymer and surrounded by silver. Since most have sold, you may have to look at them on Flickr and Facebook.

She integrates ball chain into her designs embedding it in polymer and repeating the theme throughout the pieces. Liz works with what she loves which is why one of her new series incorporates horsehair into her jewelry designs. She tells that story on her farm site.

Liz is consistently one of my favorite artists–being a sucker for iridescent–but she really has it all–great design sense coupled with a perfect storm of media; metal and polymer. Hers is one of those styles that is instantly recognizeable without ever being boring—and then—sigh—there are those incredibly beautiful paint horses that she gets to work with every day.

Wow…this is really incredible work. I have often thought of what I might try to put into a polymer clay piece, but as yet haven’t had the courage to try though I do have a long list of ideas…nice to see how she works the silver with the clay and how the colors just make the forms pop out. So clever. Horsehair? I’m going to go have a look at that!! Thank you so much for sharing her work!
