Hughes on PolymerClayDaily.com

At 14″ x 14″ x 3.5″, this multi-media piece from Santa Fe’s Tory Hughes is no brooch.

Skipping Over Winter Except the Solstice is a new work for the wall and it’s a small scale sample of a new and even larger series.

Tory’s works are always filled with echoes of travel and sprinkled with shimmer and hints of the East.

Her summer teaching schedule is filling up and she’ll take off for Australia to teach in September and October. You can travel along with her on Instagram, Facebook and her site.

This is gorgeous and one can see the influence of jewelry in the piece. The colors and shimmers and energy are so well balanced. I especially love that there is a layer underneath that I want to get a closer look at to see what beauty is ‘buried’ just behind the main panels. Lovely!!

Again, Tory’s work flat-out amazes me. Great post.

Tory’s work is so enjoyable! I met her in 1988 and it is so interesting to see how her work has changed over the years! I loved her polymer postcards!

When I opened this email and scrolled beyond the subject line and the piece was came into view…my breath was literally taken away…but I knew instantly it was a Tory piece before I got to the text of the email…even when she is doing new works and they are different than others of hers from the past…there is just something about her Design Style that exudes TORY to anyone who follows her…I have only one word to describe this piece “PROFOUND”…
