Texas’ Shelley Atwood says it was unintentional that her latest earrings look so right for the season. She textures the surface of embellishments with a stitch like pattern and stays away from the traditional holiday palette.
The ogee shape is based on Roman designs but today it reads like a delicate holiday ornament. Wear it or hang it? Ether way, it’s lovely.
Full disclosure – sometimes I choose a design to feature just because I want to remember it for my own work. That’s how I came to pick out this earring from Konooz9 on Instagram. I know very little about this artist who seems to be UK-based. I’m hoping someone can help me out.
What I do know is that this hinged earring is fashionable and cleverly assembled. The construction makes it both a stud and a drop earring.
The polymer pattern is a stamped texture highlighted with gold. I’m assuming there’s a wire that lets the bottom circle swing from the top square. You can hear echoes of tribal and ancient rendered in a totally contemporary design.

The painterly pendant is called Landscape 2 and it’s from her etched veneer series with extruded strings pressed in which she explains on Facebook. The earrings look like salvaged circles from an abstract canvas and they’re from an earlier version of her etched color series. Betsy sells a good tutorial about her methods but not about this etched color process yet.
