Early Lehocky

I went way back into PCD archives to pick out my 2020 Ron Lehocky valentine. This is an early Ron though I’m not sure what year. Maybe he can tell us. The background dots are black on color. They frame the dimensional heart whose dots reverse to color on black. It’s loose and carefree, probably […] Read more

Lehocky’s polymer canvas

Ron Lehocky boosted his tally of polymer hearts past the 23,000 mark this week, creating popular designs from scrap canes destashed from other artists’ studios as well as his own creations. At $10 per heart, you can calculate how much Ron has raised for the Kids Center in Louisville Kentucky. Click on the picture for […] Read more

Lehocky’s giving heart

It’s the season for giving and Ron Lehocky’s polymer clay work reminds us of what a commitment to giving can accomplish. As of September 30, Ron reached his goal of 10,000 polymer pins made to support the Louisville Cerebral Palsy KIDS Center. He met his goal in four years, a year ahead of schedule. This […] Read more

8,000 Lehocky polymer clay hearts

Over the last three years, Ron Lehocky has made nearly 8,000 polymer clay hearts including 450 of this year’s Christmas-themed versions. What better way to celebrate […] Read more

Lehocky tops 6,000 hearts

You may remember Ron Lehocky’s polymer clay heart project and he reports that heart sales are over 6,000. His goal is 10,000. But don’t think that Ron only creates heart-themed pins. He’s constantly experimenting and making new series of designs like this pendant inspired by a color class with Lindly Haunani. The flower design here […] Read more

Alberta Einstein

Was Ohio’s Anita Behnen thinking of me when she designed her new line of mixed-media sculptures? White hair, dots? Turns out she calls her new imp Alberta Einstein and the story is that learning new math has turned her hair white. (Anita’s creatures all have stories.) It’s not about me at all. PCD shows you […] Read more

Halloween hearts

What? We haven’t crowed about Kentucky’s Ron Lehocky for ages! This Halloween Heart feature will fix that! Here are some of Ron’s latest with two of my favorite ingredients…dots (of course) and canes from Nebraska’s Ivy Niles (ikandyclay). Every bone is incredibly detailed. To achieve such precision Ivy probably reduced the parts in sections. Can’t […] Read more

48,283 and 500

48,283 – That’s the number of hearts that Ron Lehocky has created for his Kids Project since 2005. Year by year he moved the goalposts and predicts he’ll crack 50,000 in 2021. Each heart raises $10. When Ron put out the word, scraps from artists far and wide started arriving. He transforms scrap into heart […] Read more

Polymer and pearls

I don’t quite know how I developed the habit, but I always wear polymer jewelry. Except for tomorrow. I pulled these pearls out of a box of jewels from my mother. We didn’t always (ok, never) agreed on politics but I know Ruth would approve of my wearing her pearls tomorrow. They may not be […] Read more

Be grateful

Jayne Dwyer and Ron Lehocky teamed up for today’s batch of hearts. Jayne’s canes, Ron’s hearts. A marvelous collaboration. You may not be where you intended to be this Thanksgiving. It doesn’t matter. You can be friends with anybody, you can be family with anybody. Reach out to someone today. Be thankful.
