If you thought you were the only one who worried over their FIMO50 entry, think again. Even Julie Picarello fretted about working in a size and shape she wasn’t used to. “I have never made anything that size before and was honestly a little overwhelmed. I’m just so glad my tile is done,” Julie admits.
What better way to start May and end the project than with Julie’s dreamy colors and ethereal mokume gane? There’s more on Flickr and her website.
If your entry is just getting to the mailbox (the official deadline was extended to May 3), let me know.
Over a hundred tiles from the US have been individually wrapped and I’m looking forward to boxing and shipping what looks suspiciously like a large heap of contraband.
Heartfelt thanks to all of you who worried and worked to help others.
Wendy Moore ,
And thanks to you Cynthia for all the packaging and encouraging and sharing these on Instagram. What a feast.
Lorrene Baum-Davis ,

By now the mailman knows where they go!
The response from around the globe has been unprecedented. Thanks to everyone who send in tiles to benefit two of my personal favorite charities. Looking forward to seeing the assembled piece and being a part of the celebration in Nuremburg this September. Thanks Cynthia for taking on the mailing responsibility. And much thanks to Staedtler for their initiating this incredible project.
Lorrene Baum-Davis ,
Hi sweet Ron. I WILL get around to making your wife a goblet…. Won’t match yours but ….. ONE of these days. Crikey, I am always running behind. The deadline for the Calif. State Fair Fine Arts is the 5th…..So I am working on my Sticks and Stones #2 in addition to the FIMO square. And I have a four day Art Clay Silver Certification starting on Monday AND I was elected to our Co-op gallery as the aesthetics chair. Have a board meeting this Thursday…. Julie is the sweetest. She is our local guild’s president …. I’ll say hi to her for you this Saturday. Your hearts continue to amaze me. Hope we have a retreat in 2017…. back to work.
