Kathleen Dustin ends the year with some playful dots on upcoming purses in her New Hampshire studio. What fun!

Dots were sprinkled throughout 2021! From Sun_sprinkles to Lindly Haunani getting her dot groove back to PacPens that keep your hand from cramping. Dot’s have punctuated 2021.

Is the trend meditative, silly, happy…oh who cares? We did lots of stuff just to get by. We’re all getting our groove back. Happy 2022!

What is so soothing about the golden shapes from students in Kathleen Dustin’s purse class in Georgia? The forms have a round-edged, ponderous, shape that puts me in mind of Henry Moore sculptures.

Spring at the Smithsonian

Ogle Kathleen Dustin’s latest line of handbags at the Smithsonian Craft Show this weekend (or just study them on Instagram).

She’s been refining the closures and getting fancy with the carrying strap. Kathleen even has one she agrees is “cute.”

I’m winging my way west for a few days of sun and grandsons.

Spring finery in polymer

New polymer purses for spring from Kathleen Dustin appeared just in time for the Smithsonian Craft Show April 26-30. See the other new additions on her Instagram and Facebook. (David Forlano and Steven Ford will also be at the Smithsonian show.)

These designs continue a couple of Kathleen’s series. At the left is her Tribal Circus Purse that continues a combination of carved areas with bands of textile-like patterns.

Below is her Scratch Purse that has a more painterly feel with areas of sgrafitto and panels of patterns.
