Seanna Bettencourt (thepolymergarden) is churning her scrap into summer fashions.
Seanna credits this free YouTube tutorial from Fiona Abel-Smith for inspiring her to upcycle the last bits of canes. Fiona offers both an extruded version and a hand-rolled version of her method to make it easy for all.
Melbourne’s Allie Robinson (irisheyes6868) follows her fingers as she plays with clay. They have been leading her to a world of textures. This floral tile is covered with what looks like miles of ultra-thin spiraling ruffled-edged ribbons of clay. Other experiments are covered with bumps and dents and flourishes.
When most artists flock left to liquid polymer, Allie heads right to acrylic paint. Some of her earrings are painted with crazy intense dots. She hears a different drumbeat.
You can tell that Allie is just getting up to speed with her ideas and her hands are trying to keep up. She’ll be one to watch on FB and IG.
Neighbor Nancy Nearing shared this spiral bracelet with our coffee group and it brought smiles all around.
Nancy’s bracelet is a combination of what she learned from Kim Korringa’s scrap tutorial and Maggie Maggio’s flattened split rings (see videos here and here). The piece started with Nancy’s scraps.
The mod look of this virtual collaboration takes the ideas in a different direction. Mixing and matching ideas keeps our community evolving.
Michigan’s Sandra Niese (DandyBeads) eases us into Monday with a simple pendant. On its own, the spiral would have been too simple.
By embedding those metal pins into the edge of the design, Sandra makes us stop and take in the texture and the metallic finish and ponder the piece.

One last firework for the holiday weekend from Jael Thorp. Jael was practicing the spiral she learned from Lynda Gilcher’s class using scraps of clay for pattern.
