The problem is not your monitor, there really are bugs in the system and they’re polymer from Jana Lehmann. You can watch these beetle brooches escaping from their cute little boxes.
Jana’s work is consistently the most graphic and the tidiest I’ve encountered. There’s considerable sanding involved and lots of attention to detail.
Her polymer-covered pens always appeal to me with their shapely Skinner-blended bodies and their whimsical tops. Just for fun, I’m offering five of the wooden pen bases that Jana uses as a giveaway today. I ordered a bunch from the German supplier (Bettina Welker delivered them) and they’re fun to try.
Make a comment and you’re automatically entered. I’ll announce a winner tomorrow.

Beautiful work! They are original and funny!
Those are the sweetest crawlies I have seen in a long time! The colors are wonderful and the finishing is perfect. Does anyone know what was used for the antenna?
AWWWWWWW these are so colorful and fun! I would have to say they are as cute as a bug!
Win or not. I’m glad you gave the link. I’ve been looking for pen bases for yonks. So thanks!
These intriguing bugs are at once a reminder of the graphics/colors of the 1960s and something futuristic! Just my style!
Nice bright colors on a dreary day. Love the detail.
Thanks for sharing them with us!
Nice colors and such a fine design. So simple and yet you can see these are bugs… Real eyecatchers.
Nice we can try these stylish pens. I’m looking forward.
These are the only little critters I wouldn’t mind having in my house. Attention to detail is evident with the quality of her creations. I LOVE the boxes. It takes them to another level. Very creative.

Shirley Rufener ,
I’ve loved her pens since I first saw them also. These are adorable too! I think she must have a little sanding fairly tucked away in her pocket. 🙂
Love the bugs! They remind me of that movie from the 80’s , ‘Batteries not included’, and those pens she makes will make writing a pleasure.
Absolutely wonderful! So whimsical!
She makes bug so cute. I really love the different ways she adds texture on the bodies and how the legs with their dots and rings are all different.
I really want to touch them, when get get that from a photo you know they are something very special!

Now these bugs I would not mind to find in my house !! So many varieties even Darwin could not keep up with them!
Love these buggies!
Preeetty prettty please! I’ve been “lurking” on here for years, as well as checking out all the artists that have been profiled. This year I am finally going to do something with my polymer supplies for real! This would be a great way to start.
And while I am commenting, I want to say THANK YOU for this site. I have learned so much, and have been so inspired.
What fabulous use of color and design! The most whimsical bugs I’ve ever seen. Apparently Jana’s talent is far reaching. Looks like the bug boxes are custom made using a die cutter. The window effect is brilliant. Tks for scouring the globe to keep us inspired and awed.
These little bugs are adorable! I just want to pick up one and cup it in my handsto keep it safe so I can show it to someone. I wouldn’t mind these scurrying around the house.
Thanks for letting us see your work!
