Step by striped step

Tinapple on PCDaily

It was tempting to try the other shiny techniques that others are playing with as I sat making stupid stripes out of a palette that I was less and less sure of.

I wanted to finish a project so I persisted on my own path. Plodding forward on your own unexciting path often pays off. I was surprised when those stupid stripes lined up into a pleasing pattern on this walnut bowl (turned by Blair).

I added a few dots for visual surprise. And I have enough scrap to turn into a 4″ tile for FIMO’s 50 Anniversary project. Win/win!

Nice! It paid off for sure! The dots add a perfect touch.

Wonderful, Cynthia! Love your own work, and the collaborations with your husband. It’s gorgeous!
      Hugs and love to you…

It’s wonderful! I would love to make home decor items with polymer inlay. I don’t know a wood turner, but I’ll be on the hunt!

Ditto…I love the dots! And so much patience!

            It’s a beauty Cynthia.

Looking at this lovely piece and reading your words started me thinking about therapy and repetitive motion. Yet when one Googles “repetition” words like disorder, stress, strain and injury show up. Not so here. I witness the product of a loving collaboration of talent in capable, experienced hands. I see a product of human creativity known as ART. Thank you for sharing.

                Beautiful!

The repetition of the design communicates serenity to me. How do you affix the clay to the wooden piece?

                  • reply Jeanne Dumond ,

Cynthia, another beautiful collaborative project by you and Blair! Is the clay textured? It looks like it in the picture, but I can’t make it big enough to tell for sure. It would be nice with the smooth wood finish of the bowl.

Gasp-worthy! I would love to try doing some vessels and this really speaks to me. So warm with the wood, so intricate with the lines and just so interesting. Enjoy the day! Erin

A beautiful collaboration. I love the gentle repetition of the stripes in just the right color palette.

I love the bowl, the complex stripes are so stunningly effective. There is nothing boring about them. They are a visual feast of well co-ordinated colour. The textured surface works so well. Stunning.
I enjoy creating matte and shiny surfaces. I love a beautifully polished piece just as much as a muted textured one. It is a choice we have with every piece.

A visual delight. Savory texture, calming repetition, and the tickle of interest with the dots. Love it!

Your subdued color palette strikes just the right balance with the beauty of the wood. This piece is absolutely stunning, especially the fabric like finish of the polymer.
