ASMR polymer

This video from Bonnie Bishoff introduces you to ASMR meditation and Bonnie’s version of polymer marquetry.

Totally chill, no words, watch Bonnie work and you breathe deeply, your brain goes all ahhhh with relaxation and then there’s a sudden buzz of “Oh, I get it.” Inwardly you squeal and clap.

This is Bonnie’s way of luring you into her CraftBoston.org store (click on Bonnie’s name) and her own shop where you can continue the bliss. You will leave feeling refreshed. (Here’s the link if it doesn’t show up in your browser.)

Nurturing curiosity

Katie Way gets curious about cut-and-replace on PolymerClayDaily.com

This work-in-progress shot from Alaska’s Katie Way makes my heart sing.

Spot-on colors, straightforward technique. Cut and replace meets updated quilt pattern meets polymer.

It’s an updated of several old ways of working.

That’s what we’ll be talking about on StudioMojo this Saturday. As we become more expert at what we do, we tend to lose our curiosity. We start coloring within the lines of what we know.

The Bonnie Bishoff class I hosted last weekend put a bunch of us back in touch with something new and made us feel full of possibility again. Come on over and learn how to stay curious.

Zazu zips through a geometric collection

Zazu zips through cutting and arranging layers to create a collection on PolymerClayDaily

The rhythm of cutting and replacing pieces of clay, especially at high speed, makes this process look simple and satisfying.

Watch Spain’s Zazu cut and swap layers of stripes and solids.

Using only a blade and some geometric cutters she reassembles pieces of striped canes and solids into an entire collection of jewelry.

There are days that whiz by when things go as swimmingly as this. Let’s hope today is one of them.
