With an impeccable palette Bettina Welker takes the simplest polymer clay techniques (like this single slab of pattern looped over to form a pendant) and turns them into very appealing pieces. Her graphic arts background shines through her work.

Her Ultra Light beads become ultra fashionable orbs glued onto memory wire.

While Bettina’s site is nicely designed and inviting, it’s her Flickr site that best showcases her art. And as a bonus, you get a glimpse of her studio setup. Have an ultra fun weekend.

Brava, Bettina! Her work is so full of adventure and exploration. Zounds! I expecially like how she uses memory wire to create an orbit of spheres – very imaginative. How do you think she colors her Ultralite?

      • reply Bettina Welker ,

        Hi Melanie,
        Thanks for your kind words.
I color the UL with regular polymer clay – just as easy;)

So beautiful. You’re already doing what I’ve only begun to envision.
I’m a late bloomer – just started in March. :o)
I’m not usually a fan of gloss, but your finishes look great – probably because you polished them well, instead of relying on the coat of gloss to make them *look* polished. Thanks for the inspiration.

                  Thanks to all of you!
Harriet: Yes, I sand most of my pieces to a glasslike shine. Some of them I coat with Kato liquid afterwards, what also gives a glasslike surface after heated with the heat gun.

Bettinas work is not only well designed but also has always a perfect finish (and I know what I’m talking about as I am a proud owner of one of her pieces).
                    You go girl!
