See through polymer

Neumeier on PCDaily

We can’t talk about translucent clay without checking to see what Kathrin Neumeier is up to, teasing us with another series of her glass-like earrings. She uses Pardo clay with inks to create patterns and achieve light catching effects.

If I’m not mistaken, the red earrings in her recent photos have burn spots on them. While it’s a controlled burn and the effects look purposeful, Kathrin is obviously testing the limits of translucent polymer. She’s on the edge and way ahead of most of us.

    Simply incredible.

These are just beautiful – the pleasing shapes, colors, the over-all effect. Looks like I need to check resources for translucent polymer; I didn’t know it existed. Brita Gould

I follow Kathrin on Flickr and am always amazed by her wonderful creations. Just this past weekend I went on a hunt for her online show but couldn’t find one. Does she sell her work online?

Ditto on Alison’s question as to whether Kathrin sells her pieces on line…her work is ingeniously stunning and unique…I would love to have a pair any pair of her earrings…

Agree with absolutely everything that has been said here. Clicked on that “Flickr Follow” button immediately. Just lovely shapes…I can actually feel the smoothness of them in my hands. Want to see what results further experiments yield. Kudos to you, Kathrin, on stunning array of work and on being featured in PCD!

Love her work! Stunning and unique! I would like to see her working with pardo.

Kathrin’s work in achieving translucency are absolutely stunning. I am also enjoying her simple shapes and designs. Controlled burning of clay can look wonderful. Mica especially can give stunning colours. (This is something that should not be experimented with indoors).
