This Jana Benzon-inspired wall art from Rebecca Watkins starts your week with a bright flash of color!
Rebecca was one of the students in this weekend’s class sponsored by the Pittsburgh clay guild. That’s clearly Jana’s Encrusted method of construction reinterpreted in Rebecca’s eye-popping palette and dotted with spirals.
Jana’s early polymer bargello evolved into what she calls her 3D Cutwork. Her new earrings here are an example of Jana’s current thinking in 3D compositions.
Rebecca’s an adventurous polymer artist too. Take a look at what she’s been trying with embossing powders on polymer to enhance ho-hum beads.

Although I’ve drooled over PolymerClayDaily for about 2 years now, this is my first post. Usually I can figure out “how the heck did they do that?” or find tutorials from the links provided, but this one has me stumped! How the heck did she DO that??? I want to learn…. NOW! That wall hanging (along with your post of the mosaic by BlueMallee on 1/25/17) is where I want my polymer learning skills to go to graduate. Is there a tutorial? What is the technique called? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Jana calls it “Encrusted” but you’ll have to take her workshop to learn how. She doesn’t have a tutorial. I can tell you the technique is lots of fun! I made a Pinterest page of Encrusted work by Jana and students from workshops all over. http://pin.it/L-KZzv9
