Zula sees polymer patterns in animal faces on PolymerClayDaily.com

Raccoons have such graphic, distinctive faces. Put crowns on their heads and blush on their cheeks and what have you got? Earrings from Australia’s Zula (Artsyshinycloud).

If unicorns or swans or butterflies are more to your liking, her Etsy site contains a whole menagerie of joyful animal designs carefully rendered in polymer

Saturday’s StudioMojo is positively bursting with the most interesting new ideas from my time in Kentucky. All that stored energy from our confinement had to leak out eventually. And yes, there are new road-tested tools that we couldn’t wait to order. Come on over for a look-see.

Switch blades

Nadege Honey swaps blades for a change on PolymerClayDaily.com

Is your wavy blade feeling neglected? Is it calling to you from the back of a crowded drawer?

UK’s Nadege Honey gives ho-hum stripes some zig-zag pizazz by setting the straight blade aside and using a wavy one instead as she creates a slab of pattern.

Not rocket science but a welcome change.

ByUnaMOfficial creates designs with an eye to her future on PolymerClayDaily.com

Your artist’s eye is probably drawn to leaves at this time of year. If so, you’ll want to spend some time on our pick for FOLLOWFRIDAY: Byunamofficial

At the end of a wild google goose chase, it turns out that these sophisticated luminous earrings are created by Una. She’s a 15-year old who creates in Sweden. She started with origami in 2015 and gravitated to polymer. Una wants to be the next Chanel.

The juxtaposition of the irregular shapes cleverly mimics leaves falling. The striated patterns add to the leafy effect and she envisions them in a range of metallic sheens and colors. You’ll want to follow this young designer.

In this week’s StudioMojo, we’ll discuss an intriguing theft, a no-fail glue, a must-try class. I keep my ear to the ground and my nose to the grindstone for your Saturday morning enjoyment. Join the party.

Polymer FrootLoops

Liat Weiss serves up a spoonful of earrings for breakfast on PolymerClayDaily.com

Is this a crazy world or what?

You won’t have any trouble convincing Toronto’s Liat Weiss (Dewdrop.Inc) of that notion.

“Truly from the bottom of my heart thank you for allowing me to make froot loops out of clay as part of my living.” she marvels to her followers

Liat makes very realistic breakfast cereal earrings out of polymer and you can watch her here.

Color study earrings

Mary Anne Loveless opens her show with a color study on PolymerClayDaily.com

This tray of earrings from Utah’s Mary Anne Loveless keeps the colors under control in a most appealing way. The graduated backgrounds are tied together into neat dangles held together visually by contrasting stripes.

Is it the vertical blends that make these feel so right? The blends run in opposite directions on the left and right dangles. There’s a color lesson here.

FRIDAY FOLLOW: indigo.sands

Krymsyn (indigo.sands) reveals the glow of her imitative amber on PolymerClayDaily.com

North Carolina’s Krymsyn (Indigo.Sands) uses the hashtag “claytocope” because she picked up polymer to help her through the pandemic.

It’s worked! She has more followers than I thought possible and her business is thriving.

Yes, she’s trendy and savvy but better than that, she’s curious and has an itch for imitative techniques like her latest faux amber. Here her hoop’s rich color is revealed by her phone flashlight. Worth following along, right?

Shelties and cattle

Lindsay Locatelli carves cattle earrings on PolymerClayDaily.com

Colorado’s Lindsay Locatelli was trained in woodworking. So what does she do with polymer? She carves it! She experiments and fools around and has fun.

Lindsay Locatelli's carved Shelties on PolymerClayDaily.com

Here she turns her horned friends into post earrings. Picture yourself wearing these at your next party. Getting a few looks? Uh-huh.

If you’re more of a dog person, try on her Shelties.

Join other serious clay freaks over at StudioMojo every Saturday. If you’re itching to get beyond your comfort zone and bored with what’s trendy, come on over. We’ll show you some exciting, edgy stuff that will stretch your brain and make you the belle of the ball.

Earrings for birders

Are there bee-eaters on your worktable? from PolymerClayDaily.com

Australia’s Bron (bombalabee) knows her birds. These are rainbow bee-eaters. Other species fly in and out of her shop – pin robins, black cockatoos, rosellas, macaws, parrots, magpies, and more.

Bron layers on polymer feathers with a birder’s eye for detail, shapes, and colors. Her website is launching this month. Welcome her.
